Important Information about patchwork fabrics
All patchwork fabrics are 100% cotton with a nominal width of 106-114cm (42"-44") unless stated otherwise.
Due to the limitations of colour printing, image colours may vary from actual fabric colours, with certain colours (such as reds) being particularly difficult to reproduce. Use the images on this online shop only as a guide, please do not use them to colour match fabric.
Fat Quarters and Long Quarters
Some of our packs are cut as Fat Quarters. To get a Fat Quarter, the fabric is cut at 50cm and then slit half way along the width to give a fatter piece of fabric. Our normal fabric cut off the bolt is 25cm wide, which is also called a Long Quarter
Washing patchwork fabrics.
Some patchworkers prefer not to prewash fabric, but prewashing new fabrics generally ensures that there will be no uneven shrinkage and no transfer of colours when the finished piece is washed. These guidelines
apply to most 100% cotton fabrics, but we would always advise testing a small piece
first as manufacturing processes do vary:
Unfold all fabrics before putting into the washing machine.
Wash light coloured fabrics in tepid water with a phosphate free detergent.
Soak dark coloured fabrics individually in cold water for approximately half an hour and then machine wash in cold water
with a phosphate free detergent.
Ensure your washing machine is set to a low spin cycle, Tumble fabric almost dry then
remove and press with an iron.
Completed quilts made from light and dark fabrics should only be washed in cold water.
Making A Purchase
All Prices are shown in Pounds Sterling (inclusive of VAT). Just browse our Catalogue and click on any items that you wish to buy to put them into the shopping basket. After you have finished your selection, click on "Order" and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to satisfy the order.
When we have received your order we will send you an email acknowledging receipt.
We accept Visa and MasterCard. If you are shopping from anywhere other than the UK your credit card company should convert the transaction to your own currency at the prevailing rate at the time of the transaction.
We do not charge for any item until it is ready to ship. Backordered items are not charged until they are shipped.
If you have made a mistake in your order and cannot correct it in the shopping cart, contact us and we will correct the mistake.
Online purchases and orders made by any other method cannot be combined. They will be treated as separate orders with separate postage charges for each order.
When confirmation of your order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable.
Shipping And Handling
Postage and packing charges apply to all items purchased using the electronic shopping basket facility except for Gift Vouchers.
Postage and packing charges within the UK are shown in relation to the cost of the ordered items. We have three levels of service: Standard Service, Priority Service and Special Delivery. Further details are in Delivery Schedule below.
The Cotton Patch reserves the right to notify you if postage to your chosen destination is significantly higher than the postage rate indicated due to the destination or the bulk, weight value of the item being shipped. If this is the case we will email you with information about the amended rate and will only proceed with the order when you confirm that the amended amount is acceptable.
For BFPO orders outside the United Kingdom postage and packing is charged at actual cost.
Postage charges to Overseas destinations will depend upon the weight and volume of the items ordered and the Country to which they are delivered. The charge will be shown in the checkout after you have selected the delivery Country.
If the item is very light the goods may be sent by International Airmail (this is not a trackable service). For all other orders delivery will be via UPS which is a trackable service. Delivery by UPS service in Europe is usually within 2-5 days of despatch. Customers will be sent a tracking number via the email address provided on their order.

If you give us an incorrect delivery address and a parcel is returned to us or undelivered because of that incorrect address we reserve the right to charge additional postage to cover the re-sending of your parcel to the correct address.
From April 2013 we have negotiated a new rate with UPS for Overseas Parcels. This means that postage to overseas countries is now significantly cheaper. Also for the majority of European destinations there is no increase in price between 2kg and 20 kg. This particularly benefits those customers who wanted to order wadding.

UK Standard Service
You should receive your order in approximately 2 to 4 working days from when you order. Our working days are Monday to Saturday, excluding Bank Holidays. Please note that if you place an order after 9am on a Friday your order will be downloaded on the following Monday and in that case Monday will be the first processing day.

UK Special Delivery
We aim to despatch the same business day (Monday to Friday) for orders received before 9am and the next business day for orders received after 9am. Your goods will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery or similar service that guarantees delivery before 1pm on the day after depatch (by Monday if despatched on a Friday). It is available to most areas of the UK. Special delivery is not available for same day despatch on Saturday or Sunday.This service is subject to product availability and/or size restrictions on some products (such as quilting frames).
UK Priority Service
We aim to despatch the same business day (Monday to Friday) for orders received before 9am and the next business day for orders received after 9am. Your goods will be despatched using Royal Mail First Class or a similar service. This service is subject to product availability and/or size restrictions on some products (such as quilting frames).
Orders for a large selection of fabric cut to order may take longer to process but we will advise you in this case. It is important that you provide a daytime telephone number so that we can contact you if we need to discuss delivery of your order.Delayed Mail
The Royal Mail aims to deliver within 2 to 3 working days, but please allow 15 working days for delivery before contacting us. This is the timescale quoted by Royal Mail before they will allow a claim for non-delivery

Delivery by UPS service in Europe is usually within 2-5 days of despatch.
If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.
All our prices are shown inclusive of VAT except for books and magazines which do not incur VAT.
If you are ordering from outside the European Union or from any of the following countries, VAT will not be charged: Channel Islands, Norway, Switzerland, Gibraltar and Canary Islands.

Update Shopping Cart
Use the "View Bag" button at the top right of the screen. Your shopping list will be displayed. On the right-hand side of each product is a Tick Box called "Remove". Click in the box so that a tick appears. Then click on "Update" on the options below the shopping list. The shopping list should redisplay with the item removed from the list.

Waste electrical or electronic equipment recycling
If you buy a new electrical item, we will recycle your old one for free. Unwanted electrical equipment is the UK's fastest growing type of waste. Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment. If you do not recycle, electrical equipment will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination harming wildlife and also human health.
Recycling symbolTo remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol.
The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires countries to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of these items. In the UK, distributors (including retailers) must provide a system which allows all customers buying new electrical equipment the opportunity to recycle their old items free of charge.

If you are unhappy with your purchase you can return an item to us. Within the European Union, customers have the right to withdraw from the purchase of an item within fourteen working days beginning the day after the date that the item is delivered. It must be in its original condition and returned to us at our address shown above. Please call us or email us for a Returns Number. We recommend that you receive a proof of posting or send it by recorded delivery. We cannot accept returns of videos, DVDs, computer software that has been opened, subscription magazines or fabric cut to your specific requirements
You are entitled to cancel your order and return the goods within 14 working days for a full refund, including the cost of delivery. Do this by contacting us by email or telephone and quoting the order number supplied to you. Your refund will be paid within 30 days. You are responsible for the cost and risk of loss or damage when returning the goods, so you should take out enough postal insurance to cover their value. This cancellation policy does not affect your rights when we are at fault - for example, if goods are faulty or misdescribed.
Any goods returned should be in saleable condition.
Damaged, defective or incorrect items
Please call or email us if you have a problem with an item that is damaged or defective. We will give you a Returns Number and discuss arrangements for rectifying the problem. We will refund the delivery charges incurred in returning the item to us (either via a personalised pre-paid envelope and return label, or by refunding your return postage costs). We check all items returned to us and if we cannot find a fault, we reserve the right to re-charge you for the item(s) and to recover any costs incurred in recovering it from you.
These terms apply to your order. We may change our terms and conditions at any time, so please do not assume that the same terms will apply in the future.
None of these terms affect your legal rights and these are not diminished in any way. If any term is held to be invalid under any applicable statute or rule of law, that term is automatically omitted from the terms to minimum extent necessary to comply with the law and without affecting the validity or enforceability of the remainder.
