Leonie West, designer of the Westalee quilting system has also focused her talents on patchwork templates. Kali Star is one such example: a set of 9 patchwork templates used to create a dazzling and dynamic design called Kali Star.

The quilt begins by sewing strips of fabric together, carefully cutting them with the templates and then sewing these new shapes together to create fascinating kaleidoscopic designs. Four sizes of quilt are possible, from the smallest at 42½ square to the largest at 120" square.
As you can see from the examples, choice of colour and strip width play a big part in the look of the final quilt. Because of the personal choice involved in setting the strip widths and colour combinations Leonie does not give quantities for fabrics required, but as a guide a minimum of 75cm of 6 fabrics is required for the small quilt to create an effective design.
Sizes are: 42.5" square, 60" square 85" square and 120" square
