Kaffe Fassett fabrics are one of the most popular patchwork fabric ranges in the world. Kaffe is famous for the vivid colourisation of his designs that can make a finished patchwork quilt really stand out. Kaffe's fabrics are currently produced under the Free Spirit label (previously it was Rowan or Westminster Fibres which you may find on the selvedge)
The Kaffe Fassett fabric range started with G01, his famous Roman Glass design, and each year he adds more designs. Kaffe and fellow designers Brandon Mably and Philip Jacobs formed the Kaffe Fassett Collective. They each produce designs but share a common colourisation palette. You can find all of Kaffe's fabric designs below as well as a range of Stripes, Shot Cotton Plains, Quilt Kits and packs. Our packs and quilt kits will feature fabrics from Kaffe Fassett, Philip Jacobs and Brandon Mably.
Born in San Francisco, Kaffe Fassett settled in England in 1964 and worked as an artist. On a trip to Scotland he stumbled on an irresistible collection of coloured yarns. A few months later he was hooked and proceeded to knit and stitch himself a career.
The Kaffe Fassett Fabric Collection from Free Spirit now extends to hundreds of patchwork and quilting fabrics ranging from wonderful woven stripes and checks to bold and colourful prints. The Cotton Patch stock a huge variety of Kaffe Fassett fabrics and fabric packs. We also provide patchwork quilt kits using Kaffe's fabrics or quilts designed by Kaffe himself.
The Kaffe Fassett Collective is a joint enterprise between Kaffe and fellow designers Brandon Mably and Philip Jacobs with designs coloured by Kaffe.
Kaffe Fassett Fabric Club
The Kaffe Fassett Club offers members the opportunity to keep up-to-date with the latest designs and colours from Kaffe and the other members of the Kaffe Fassett Collective, Brandon Mably and Philip Jacobs.
Twice a year we send out a pack of 18 fabrics cut to our 10" square Patchwork Palette. These are usually posted in late Spring and late Autumn.
We have a selection Kaffe Fassett Collective Fat Quarter Bundles. Included with the bundle are instructions for a small "Accents" quilt - a simple design to construct that lets the fabric "do the talking". Use as a throw, wall hanging or lap quilt to compliment (or contrast) with your decor or add more packs to make a larger quilt. Keep the quilting simple too and you have a lovely gift that can be made in a day!
